A teen killed themselves while caught in a “sextortion” scheme, and now police said they have arrested a suspect.
This week, police in San Jose, California, announced the arrest of Jonathan Kassi in connection to the case.
The investigation started on Feb. 26 as detectives looked into a West African financial sextortion scheme, police said. Investigators identified Kassi as the suspect in a sextortion scheme that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male.
He was arrested earlier this month and charged with extortion and attempted disorderly conduct, police said.
Kassi was then booked into jail.
Police said Kasie Sexually exploited children online using the names “emllysmith” and “Kassijonathan” on various social media sites.
