California man kills father, injures other family members in shooting in front of toddler, teenager
A man in California who shot and killed his father and wounded three other family members has been arrested in California, according to police.
On Friday, Fresno (California) police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Eduardo Amaya of Selma, California and charged him with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and two counts of child endangerment in connection to the incident.
At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, police received a report of shots beig fired at a home in the 2400j block of E. Clarkson Avenue in Selma. When officers entered a trailer, they found three people with gunshot wounds, police say.
Police also found 55-year-old Marco Amaya Diaz dead. His 48-year-old wife and their 27-year-old daughter were taken tot he hospital. The wife was in critical condition and the daughter was in serious condition.
While on scene, police learned that Eduardo Amaya was responsible for the shooting. He fled the home and ran into a nearby orchard, police say.
A sheriff's helicopter located Amaya and deputies took him into custody without incident. Officers also found the gun allegedly used in the crime, according to police.
Detectives discovered the family was preparing to host a party over the weekend when Amaya began shooting. A teenager and toddler were in the home during the incident but were not injured, police say.
As Amaya left the trailer, he fired shots at another man on the property but did not hit him, according to police.
