A morning shooting in a California apartment left one man dead and now police say the suspect and his girlfriend have been arrested in connection to the murder.
Around 2 a.m. on Dec. 17, officers responded to a call from an apartment regarding gunshots being fired, according to the Redlands Police Department.
At the scene, police said they found two women who fled the area after hearing an argument and gunshots fired from inside their apartment.
Officials said they entered the apartment and found a 33-year-old man dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
An investigation began and detectives determined the suspect was 23-year-old Kevin Daniel Johnson.
He was found and arrested, as was his girlfriend, 23-year-old Shaessenci Eunicely Smith. Police said Smith was arrested as an accessory after the fact after trying to provide an alibi to the suspect.
Johnson was booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino without bail on the murder charge, according to authorities. Smith was booked into the same facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Police have not said what led to the shooting.
