Shooting Between Two Vehicles Leaves Victim Dead, Suspect Now Faces Homicide Charges

A victim was found crashed into a fence and police quickly learned he had been fatally shot. Now, his accused killer is behind bars.
Recently, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Peter Van Phan, 26, on a homicide charge.
Around 1 p.m. on Oct. 27, police were alerted to a possible shooting on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Sacramento County, California. Moments later, a witness called police to say someone in a crashed car had been shot.
Deputies responded and found a victim inside the car with at least one gunshot wound. The vehicle had crashed into the fence.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died several hours later.
Investigators said the shooting was between two vehicles but did not offer further details.
Phan was identified as the suspect and arrested hours later.
