A California man inked with a “Jesus is love” tattoo on his forehead is behind bars and accused of murdering a man.
Around 7:30 p.m. on June 21, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a report of a shot fired near the Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade. At the scene, they discovered a man suffering a stab wound to the neck and began lifesaving measures.
The man was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
According to law enforcement, the victim got into an altercation with another man and woman near the Santa Monica Pier and ended up getting knifed. During the altercation, cops said, a shot was fired from a .45-caliber handgun, though it’s unclear who fired the round.
Investigators found a shell casing as well as a knife believed to be the murder weapon.
After the stabbing, the attacker allegedly was spotted changing his clothes, wrapping the knife in a pair of pants and getting rid of both, Officer Rudy Flores told Los Angeles’ KTLA.
Based on the testimony of eyewitnesses who were with the victim, officers in the area stopped Sean Alexander Graves, 28, and his female companion and the two were taken into custody, police said.
The woman was interviewed and released. Police booked Graves on suspicion of murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
