A 14-year-old boy in California has been arrested after he allegedly killed his parents and then claimed they were victims of a violent intrusion, according to authorities.
Around 7:40 p.m. on Dec. 27, the teenager called 911 to report his mother, father and sister were attacked in a home invasion in Miramonte, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
According to authorities, the teen claimed that the alleged assailant fled the scene in a pickup truck.
Deputies responded to the residence and found the caller’s father, Lue Yang, and mother, Se Vang, both 37, dead inside the family's home.
Authorities also located the caller’s 11-year-old sister, who had sustained “major injuries” during the attack and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. She reportedly is expected to survive.
Another child, the caller’s 7-year-old brother, was also home at the time of the incident but was not injured and is currently in the care of family.
Detectives reportedly determined there were “inconsistencies with what supposedly took place" the day of the deadly incident.
Investigators said the teen allegedly “fabricated the story of a break-in” and instead was “responsible for using multiple weapons to attack his family members.”
Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni explained that “many people hunt and things like that” in the county's rural areas, “so it’s not uncommon for weapons to be readily available.”
He added, "Unfortunately, in this case, they were in the hands of a 14-year-old who used them in a very violent manner to kill both of his parents."
The teen, whose identity has not been released, was arrested and booked into a juvenile detention facility, authorities said. He was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Zanoni said detectives are still working to determine a motive for the killings.
"The tragedy of the situation is of such a high magnitude because two children have lost their mother and father due to the actions by their other sibling," Zanoni said. "Those children will grow up without a mother and a father due to this incident."
