Suspect arrested after 4-year-old’s body found on Dallas street, police say

A 4-year-old toddler was found dead on May 16 on a neighborhood street in Dallas, Texas, and a teen has been charged in connection to the case.

Darriynn Brown, 18, was charged with kidnapping and theft in connection with the crime, the Dallas Police Department said in a statement.

Investigators anticipate more charges when forensics results are available.

According to USA Today, the child died in a violent manner with an “edged weapon.”

Antwainese Square, 39, told The Dallas Morning News she alerted authorities she saw the boy’s body while she was jogging, according to USA Today.

She said the boy’s face and the upper half of his body were covered in blood and that he didn’t have shoes or a shirt.

The toddler’s name has not been released, but authorities believe he lived in the southwest Dallas neighborhood where he was found, according to USA Today.

Lila Gilbert, 18, told The Dallas Morning News she saw the child as she walked down the road.  At one point, the blanket covering him fell off and she saw blood and what appeared to be bite marks on his face. 

Brown is being held on a $750,000 bond at Dallas County Jail.
