A 5-year-old North Carolina girl was stabbed to death and her mother was indicted on a murder charge.
On April 25, Henderson County Sheriff's Office deputies were sent to a call about a reported stabbing in the Fruitland, North Carolina, community, police said.
Once they arrived on the scene, police said they found 5-year-old Carolina dead from injuries she had received.
After an investigation was done, police said they determined that Penny Hartle, the mother of the child, was a suspect in the stabbing of the little girl.
Hartle was recently indicted by a grand jury for first-degree murder in connection to the case, according to WLOS. FrontPageDetectives reported her arrest when it happened weeks ago.
A search warrant obtained by ABC 13 News stated Hartle’s boyfriend told police that Hartle suffered from psychological issues and she had not taken her medication.
Police also stated Hartle blood on her clothing and a cut on her hand when they spoke to her.
