Ohio Man Tried, Convicted Twice For Murdering Cousin Of His Babysitter
A southern Ohio man will be sentenced in May after he was convicted a second time of murdering his babysitter's cousin.
On April 4, a jury in Dayton convicted Chuckie Lee, 44, of murder, felonious assault and gun charges.
Authorities say Lee fired 37 bullets in March 2017, trying to kill Ricky Maves Jr. after an argument at a bar.
But two bullets hit Maves’s cousin, Taylor Brandenburg. WHIO-TV reports the 20-year-old was at Maves’s home and stepped outside to talk to a friend.
Lee was found guilty of murder in September 2018 and sentenced to 61 years in prison. He testified at the time that did not intend to kill Brandenburg.
Lee served as his own attorney during that trial. Prosecutors reportedly called it “The Chuckie Lee Show.”
- He Told His Girlfriend And Another Woman This Would Be Their Last Meal. Then, He Shot Them To Death.
- He was frustrated with his girlfriend after a fight. Then he brutally beat an 11-month-old baby to death.

But the Dayton Daily News reported the murder conviction was overturned by an Ohio appeals court because his waiver of the right to an attorney was not valid.
Lee had an attorney at the latest trial, but a jury still convicted him after about two hours of deliberations.
Lee’s former girlfriend, Kara Parisi-King, is serving a sentence of 15 years to life for complicity to murder.
