More than 40 years after two women were assaulted in Maryland, police said they arrested a suspect in the cases.
It’s a suspect who once served more than two decades behind bars for sexual assaults in North Carolina.
This week, police in Montgomery County, Maryland, announced the arrest of 65-year-old Marion Edward Pearson Jr.
He was charged in connection to an April 1981 rape when a woman said she was assaulted in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He was also charged in connection to a June 1981 sexual assault in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Pearson lived in Prince George’s County at the time, police said. He was arrested for assault, peeping Tom and other counts between 1980 and 1999. He also served 22 years in prison for a series of rapes in North Carolina.
But it wasn’t until October of this year when a DNA match identified Pearson as the suspect in the Maryland rapes, police said.
