More than 15 years after a violent home invasion left one person dead in Florida, cops say they have charged a suspect.
The suspect was already in prison for a robbery he committed weeks after the murder, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.
In January 2007, Felix Paguada-Lopez was killed during a home invasion, according to the sheriff’s office. Police investigated but could not find the killer and the case went cold.
In August 2022, police said advancements in fingerprint technology allowed them to identify Cameron Denard as the suspect in the case.
Police said Denard committed a similar robbery just 16 days after Paguada-Lopez’s murder. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for that robbery and was scheduled to be released in 2026.
While police were just able to tie him to the alleged murder, deputies said they did find the gun used to kill Paguada-Lopez in Denard’s home 20 years ago.
