A 20-year-old Colorado man is suspected of killing his girlfriend after police say they found her dead in an apartment from a “brutal attack.”
Around 8 a.m. Sept. 5, the Aurora Police Department in Colorado said officers were called to City Center Station Apartments on reports of an injured person.
Once at the scene, officers found a 20-year-old woman suffering from apparent physical trauma, officials said.
The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said.
Officers said they also found a man in the apartment and he was immediately detained.
Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit were called to the scene to conduct the investigation, officials said.
After detectives collected evidence and obtained statements, they proceeded to arrest the man found inside the apartment, 20-year-old Dakota Chinnock, and charged him with first-degree murder, police said.
Officials said the identity of the woman would be released once the Arapahoe County Coroner positively identifies her and relatives are notified.
The Aurora Police Department said the motive behind this brutal attack is not yet known.
The investigation remains ongoing, officials said.
