Colorado woman dies after son allegedly stabs her at their home, police say
A Colorado man is accused of a double stabbing that left his mother dead and a man in critical condition, police said.
On Jan. 3 shortly before 5 p.m., Joseph Majewski, 31, allegedly attacked Laurie Majewski, 59, and the second victim, who has not been publicly identified, at their home in Broomfield.
Police responding to a 911 call found Majewski dead at the scene. The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, the Broomfield Leader reported.
Police identified Joseph Majewski, 31, as a suspect and charged him with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. He also faces two violent crime sentence enhancers, prosecutors said.
He was being held without bond in the Broomfield County jail.
“Detectives continue to investigate what led up to the stabbings,” Broomfield police said. “The suspect and the victims knew each other; at this time there is no danger to the community.”
