A man was murdered at a Connecticut gas station a decade ago, and this week police say they arrested two suspects in connection to his murder.
On March 16, 2011, Ansonia Police received a complaint of a person shot in front of an Xtra Mart. Isaia Hernandez was found in the parking lot by the gas pumps, and he was shot multiple times.
Hernandez was transported to the hospital, where he died from the gunshot wounds, according to Ansonia police.
Investigators determined Hernandez was inside his car in the Xtra Mart lot with Luis Marquez, 29, and Elijah Stanford, 29, when Marquez and Stanford robbed and shot him, according to police.
Hernandez, Marquez and Stanford all exited the car, with Hernandez collapsing in the parking lot while the two suspects ran from the scene, according to Ansonia police.
Marquez was taken into custody on May 4, 2021, while Stanford was arrested on March 11, 2021.
Marquez charged with felony murder, first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. His bond was set at $500,000.
Stanford was charged with felony murder, first-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. He was arraigned at Milford Superior Court and released after posting a $500,000 bond.
The Ansonia Police Department has a third arrest warrant in the investigation. The suspect is currently incarcerated and will be arrested at a later date. Police did not release that suspect's name in announcing the arrests.
