Almost A Year After An Infant Died From A Fentanyl Overdose Police Charged His Dad In Connection To Case

An infant died from a fentanyl overdose and now his father faces a criminal charge, according to a report.
On Nov. 16, police in Enfield, Connecticut, arrested Lenin Rodriguez, 30, on charges of criminally negligent homicide and risk of injury to a minor, according to the CTPost.
He was charged in connection to the death of his 1-year-old son.
On Nov. 22, 2021, police responded to the family’s home for the death of the child, according to the report. Medical examiners determined the boy’s cause of death was acute fentanyl intoxication.
Police did not say how they believe the child ingested the drug.
Fentanyl is a powerful opioid used to enhance the effects of other drugs, but a small amount can be deadly.
Rodriguez turned himself in to police and was released after posting $50,000 bond.
