Police say a Kentucky couple has been arrested after they allegedly got caught trying to sell their twin daughters. The twins were reportedly less than a year old.
According to an arrest report obtained by WKYT-TV, the sister-in-law of 23-year-old Zackary Davis reached out to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and reported that she agreed to purchase the infants for $5,000 from Davis and the babies’ mother, 22-year-old Jacquilyn Keith.
The arrest report notes the sister-in-law shared with police photos as well as conversations she recorded with the couple.
When speaking with investigators, Keith and Davis allegedly admitted to talking about selling the twins, but they claimed they did not intend to go through with the plan, police said.
According to the Associated Press, Davis told cops that he “joked around” about selling the babies.
