A 7-year-old was stabbed more than 30 times by her mother, who has been charged in connection to the child's murder, police said.
Troyshaye Mone Hall, 23, faces a murder charge in connection to the death of her daughter, Madison Petry, as well as a charge of aggravated assault in the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Police were called to a home just before 2 p.m. on June 17 for the reported stabbing.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News, Hall’s mother told officers she was in a bathroom in the house when she heard screaming.
According to the arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News, Hall’s mother told officers she was in a bathroom in the house when she heard screaming.
Hall’s brother told her that Hall stabbed his teenage friend, and they found her in another bathroom with a knife in her hand, according to the affidavit.
Hall’s mother and brother tried to take the knife away from her, but she managed to get away from them and began stabbing her daughter, the affidavit says.
Medical experts say the daughter was stabbed more than 30 times.
The mother ran outside for help, and a neighbor who works as a Dallas County Sheriff’s deputy went to check on Hall and Madison.
Hall walked out of the house, and the neighbor ordered her to get down. The deputy handcuffed her and left her in the front yard, according to the affidavit.
The deputy drove Madison Petry to a fire station a few blocks away because he thought it was taking too long for an ambulance to arrive.
The child was taken to Baylor University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the shoulder blade and back and required surgery, according to The Dallas Morning News.
According to the affidavit, Hall said, “I did it” as she was being arrested. She allegedly later told a detective, “I know I f***ed up.”
In 2017, Hall was sentenced to eight years of probation after pleading guilty to charges of aggravated assault and burglary, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Police say she threatened her boyfriend with a knife in May of 2017.
Days later, she allegedly forced her away into an apartment where her boyfriend’s female cousin lived and attacked her, according to The Dallas Morning News. The boyfriend sometimes stayed there, and Hall mistakenly thought that she was his new girlfriend.
Hall is in custody at the Dallas County Jail, with bail set at $1.5 million.
