Virginia Woman Accused Of Fatally Shooting Her Father During Argument
A Virginia woman was charged with murder after she allegedly got into an argument with her father and shot him to death, according to authorities.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on Sept. 8, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office deputies received reports of a shooting and responded to a home near Leesburg.
Inside the residence, deputies found Jeffrey A. Carroll, 56, dead from gunshot wounds in what the sheriff’s office called a “domestic-related” homicide.
An investigation determined the victim got into an argument with his daughter, Alicia R. Carroll, 28, and she picked up an assault-style rifle and handgun that were in the family’s house, WUSA reported, citing law enforcement sources.
The victim’s wife, Cynthia Carroll, witnessed the shooting, ran to another part of the family’s sprawling home and heard additional gunfire, court documents obtained by WUSA show.
Investigators said after the deadly shooting, Alicia Carrol fled the scene and deputies arrested her a short distance away. She was unarmed at the time but weapons were recovered inside the home.
One neighbor of the victim said he was a “really good man” who was funny, kind, and sweet.
Alicia Carroll, who had no prior record, was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and other charges.
She was being held without bond at the Loudon County Adult Detention Center, the sheriff’s office said.
She is due back in court on Nov. 10.
