Daycare Worker in Massachusetts Accused of Taking Nude Photos of Preschoolers During Bathroom Breaks

A woman who worked at a daycare in Massachusetts has been arrested after she allegedly took nude images of children, authorities said.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, 38-year-old Lindsay Groves worked at Creative Minds in Tyngsboro. Between May 2022 and June 2023, she allegedly took pictures of kids at the daycare while on bathroom breaks and then sent them to someone via text messages.

While searching Groves’ phone, investigators said they found at least four images of kids, but thousands of text messages on the topic.

The U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts said, "These messages allegedly included discussion about, and transfer of, explicit photographs that Groves had taken of children while employed at Creative Minds – including at least four sexually explicit images of children who appear to be approximately three to five years old."

Groves was arrested and charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children and one count of distribution of child pornography, officials said. She is to appear in federal court in Boston at a later date.

Groves is also facing state charges of possessing child sexual abuse images and was ordered not to work in child care, access the internet or have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Officials said 39-year-old Stacie Laughton, a former New Hampshire state representative was also arrested in connection with this investigation.

Laughton was charged with four counts of distribution of child sexual abuse images, according to the Nashua Police Department.

As far as those text messages, court documents state Groves’s cellphone allegedly had more than 2,500 texts between her and an individual referred to as “Person 1,” Boston.com reported. Police talked to two individuals who said Person 1 had mentioned, shown or forwarded the explicit images to them, but police did not say whether Laughton and Person 1 were one and the same.

Laughton, who resigned her seat in the New Hampshire House of Representatives in December 2022 after she was arrested and accused of stalking and harassment, was arrested and is being held at the Hillsborough Superior Court-South.
