A man in Delaware faces DUI charges after authorities say he crashed into the back of a police cruiser while driving.
Around 8 p.m. on Aug. 15, Delaware State Police Troopers responded to I-495 for a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane.
A fully marked patrol vehicle was parked in the right lane with its emergency lights activated to warn about the hazard, according to police. That is when a Nissan Versa hit the back bumper of the police cruiser with his car.
The vehicle later stopped, and its driver was identified as Jose Sanchez Tecuapacho, police said.
He displayed signs of impairment, though police did not release the results of a preliminary breath test.
Tecuapacho was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A trooper was in the vehicle when it was hit, and he was taken to the hospital.
Police charged Tecuapacho was charged with second-degree vehicular assault and DUI.
