A man suspected of murder was found dead and six people are accused of his "execution" killing near Detroit.
The suspects are accused of shooting Jason Leon Foster, 28, on Dec. 9, 2020, in front of his home while he was sitting in his car.
"They pulled up in three carloads and basically executed him," Public Safety Director George Rouhib told Macomb Daily. "We found 18 spent bullet casings out there while searching the area."
The suspects are Jevone Melton, 28, Delenia Howell, 30, Keenan Delbridge, 30, Kevin Foy Jr., 28, Jermaine Hunt, 30, and Larry Bell Jr., 27, according to Eastpointe police. Eastpointe is a suburb outside of Detroit.
The shooters included the victim’s ex-girlfriend, with whom he shared children.
Rouhib said the suspects believed that Foster was responsible for the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend in Detroit that took place the night before the attack, according to Macomb Daily.
"We believe that was an assumption. Jason may be a suspect but that was never proven in court. It's still an open investigation," Rouhib said, according to Macomb Daily.
Eastpointe police noted the original homicide is under investigation by Detroit police. Eastpointe investigators believe Foster's murder was a retaliation.
All of the suspects were charged with first-degree homicide, and some faced charges of felony firearm or felon in possession of a firearm.
