'Savage And Unnecessary': Kansas Man Out Walking His Dog Accused Of Killing Man During Dispute
A Kansas man is accused of fatally shooting a Black man in what authorities are reportedly investigating as a possible hate crime.
Roger R. Gale, 27, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection to the death of Emmanuel Hardy, 30, KWCH reported.
According to the Wichita Police Department, around 9:45 p.m. on May 28, Gale was walking his dog when he, Hardy and an unidentified 39-year-old woman got into a dispute.
Police said Gale allegedly opened fire on Hardy and the woman, striking Hardy.
Hardy was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim’s sister told KWCH, “My brother was a good man who didn’t deserve to be chased down and killed.”
“I’m just hoping they get him justice because he didn’t deserve to die like that. Or die at all,” she continued, adding, “It was a savage and unnecessary attack.”
WHSV reported that a witness claimed Gale allegedly used racial slurs before the deadly attack and police are investigating the murder as a possible hate crime.
