Double-homicide suspect in custody after he's stopped in vehicle seen leaving crime scene days earlier, cops say
An Arizona man is under arrest in connection to a double homicide in the middle of the night near a church, police said.
Around 3 a.m. on March 23, Tucson police responding to reports of shots fired near a church found the bodies of Celina R. Garcia, 39, and Rashad Laron Smith, 44.
Investigators were able to get a description of a car spotted in the area around the time of the shootings, KOLD-TV reported.
According to the station, the pastor of the church provided security camera video of the building's parking lot.
Two days following the murders, police said, officers located a vehicle that fit the description of the one near the crime scene and detained four people, including the driver, Zachary Joseph Thomas Naifeh.
Naifeh and the two shooting victims knew each other, according to police.
Naifeh was booked into the Pima County jail on two counts each of first-degree murder and prohibited possessor of a firearm.
