‘Don’t Worry, I Shot Them Both’: Dispute in Florida Over Basketball Hoop Ends in Double Homicide, Cops Say

Police say a double homicide took place in Florida after a dispute between a 63-year-old man and his neighbors took place over a basketball hoop and their property boundary.
The fatal shooting recently occurred in a Wellington neighborhood, shows an arrest report obtained by The Palm Beach Post.
One eyewitness said he was attempting to render aid to the victims, later identified as Tara Marie Jones and Taylor Glenn Jones, when Norman Scott exited his residence.
According to police, the witness said he asked Scott if he heard anything, and Scott replied by saying, “Don’t worry, I shot them both."
Scott told the witness that he had gotten into an argument with his neighbors over a basketball hoop and property boundaries, the arrest report claims.
Police said Scott called 911 and told the dispatcher that he shot his neighbors after they attacked him.
Investigators, however, collected surveillance-camera video that allegedly showed neither Taylor nor Tara Jones acting either violently or aggressively or displaying any form of threatening behavior toward Scott, according to the arrest report.
"The video evidence unequivocally establishes the shooting was completely malicious and unprovoked," an investigator wrote in the report.
The video also allegedly shows Scott initiating a conversation with Taylor Jones.
Authorities claimed Scott was “aggressively and belligerently” pointing and waving his hand in Taylor Jones’ face, so Jones responded with “non-threatening” hand gestures.
In the video, police said Scott allegedly can be seen retrieving and shooting a gun as Taylor Jones backed away with both hands raised.
