A woman has been arrested on capital murder charges in connection to a double murder in Texas after police found her during a traffic stop over the weekend.
Laysha Garcia allegedly refused to pull over for police in Castle Hills, Texas early on Sept. 18, KSAT reported.
Officers flashed their lights as a traffic light turned green, but Garcia continued to drive, according to KSAT.
She allegedly ran a red light before moving onto Loop 410 and then eventually over to I-10 before making her way into a neighborhood, KSAT reported.
The whole chase lasted only about 10 minutes before Garcia bailed out of the moving vehicle, and injured herself, according to police and KSAT reported.
Investigators say they were initially given false information but eventually confirmed Garcia’s name, according to KSAT. Garcia is wanted for capital murder out of Dallas County, KSAT reported.
According to online court records obtained by KSAT, Garcia was first arrested in May of 2020 and released in June on a personal recognizance bond.
She was ordered to wear an electronic monitor and was on home confinement, but she violated the conditions multiple times last month, and her bond was revoked in early September, according to KSAT.
Garcia was one of five people charged with capital murder in the shooting deaths of Jason Baez, 17, and Cristian Marmolejo, 21, outside a Dallas gas station, KSAT reported.
