81-Year-Old Man Stabbed To Death, Police Say His 68-Year-Old Wife Was Responsible

An 81-year-old man was stabbed to death and now his 68-year-old wife is accused of murder.

Around 8 a.m. on April 24, police responded to a wounding call in Memphis, Tennessee. There, they found the elderly victim with stab wounds.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to Memphis police. He later died from his injuries.

Investigators said the victim was in an altercation with his wife, 68-year-old Shiela Downey, when she stabbed him. They did not say what led to the disagreement.

Downey was not at the scene when police arrived, authorities noted, but she later returned and was taken into custody.

Memphis police charged Downey with first-degree murder.
