Police say a 75-year-old woman has been arrested in New Jersey after she allegedly fatally beat and stabbed her 81-year-old boyfriend in their home.
Around 5:40 p.m. on March 31, officers with the Hamilton Township Police Department responding to a residence in Mays Landing found Gary Johnson dead and suffering from multiple wounds to his head and body, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
An autopsy was completed by the South Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, which determined Johnson died of blunt force trauma and stab wounds, officials said.
According to a police report obtained by NJ.com, investigators identified Eileen Bright, Johnson’s live-in girlfriend, as the primary suspect.
Bright allegedly told a neighbor about the killing and admitted to detectives that she killed Johnson in their home, officials claimed.
Officers said they recovered a knife inside the couple's residence.
A motive for the killing was not provided by the prosecutor’s office or included in police reports.
