On Oct. 21, a woman contacted deputies and reported she returned home to find her roommate, 33-year-old Hope Alexandra Sullivan, engaged in what appeared to be an “exorcism,” states a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrest report obtained by WFLA.

According to the woman, Sullivan and Sullivan’s sister were on the phone praying together while the child vomited, which they were encouraging, the report states.

The woman then left the residence for around 20 minutes, and upon returning, she saw the child allegedly had a “makeshift ‘noose’ around her neck with [a] robe tie," according to the arrest report.

Deputies wrote in the document that the child eventually removed the noose and later said the person on the phone was attempting to “get the ‘suicidal demon’ out of her.”

The report states the incident frightened the child and she felt ill.

Sullivan allegedly told deputies the child was sick and vomiting because of bad lobster she ate the day before the incident.

She was taken into custody on a child abuse charge.
