Dec. 10 2021, Published 12:21 p.m. ET
A person in Texas was pulled over by what they thought to be the police, but now authorities say it was someone pretending to be law enforcement.
The fake cop then proceeded to rape the victim, authorities said.
Around 7 p.m. on Dec. 7, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was pulled over outside the town of Walburg, Texas, by what they believed to be a police vehicle with a flashing light.
However, the victim stated they were sexually assaulted and now police are on the hunt for the imposter.
Officials said the suspect is a man with dark clothing and a deep voice. No other details about the suspect or his vehicle were made available in time for this report.
While the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office gave some tips on what to do if you believe you are being pulled over by someone impersonating a police officer.
Some of those tips include calling 911 from your cell phone and verifying with the dispatcher that you are indeed being pulled over by law enforcement. Also, don’t get out of the vehicle until a dispatcher confirms the details.
