A Tennessee woman has been arrested after police said she allegedly shot and killed her husband in front of their children during an argument over keys.
Around 10:10 p.m. on May 21, officers responded to a shooting at a home in Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department.
At the scene, police said they found the victim, Terrence Bean, face-down on the kitchen floor and three spent shell casings near his body.
Officers made contact with the children of the victim and his wife, 44-year-old Elita Bean, who told police “their mother shot their father,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by WHBQ.
The complaint alleges Elita Bean told officers she and her husband were “fighting over the gun, and the gun went off.”
The children told investigators their parents “were arguing over keys,” the affidavit states, noting that during the argument, Elita Bean allegedly tried to stab her husband in the kitchen.
According to the affidavit, the “fight escalated to defendant Elita Bean being on the ground and the victim without pants on.”
The affidavit claims Elita Bean allegedly asked the child to get her gun, and the child said the victim instead retrieved the weapon, handed it to Elita, “telling her to shoot him.”
She then fired three shots, the document states.
