Man Arrested In Texas Months After He Allegedly Killed His 2-Month-Old Daughter In Ohio, Prosecutors Say
A father accused of killing his newborn daughter in Ohio was recently arrested in Texas, authorities said.
Officers took John Powers, 24, into custody in Butler County, Texas, where he has been living, and charged him with the murder of his 2-month-old girl, WKRC reported.
According to court papers obtained by the station, Powers allegedly abused the infant in Fairfield, Ohio, between April 3 and May 10, the day Powers called 911 to report his daughter was unresponsive and no longer breathing.
Powers was instructed to do CPR, but the baby was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The court papers show the infant's mother wasn’t aware of the abuse, which allegedly occurred while the child was in the suspect’s care.
In addition to the murder charge, Powers also faces a second-degree felony count of child endangering, according to the Butler County Journal-News.
