Father, his 15-year-old son accused of negligent homicide after teen allegedly shoots brother at restaurant
A father and teenage son in Louisiana are accused of negligent homicide after the teen’s older brother was shot dead in a fast-food restaurant drive-through, police said.
On Jan. 2 around 2:35 p.m., Jeffery Ebarb, 42,was in a vehicle at Burger King in Shreveport, Louisiana, with his two sons, ages 15 and 16.
According to a police report obtained by KSLA, Ebarb had just purchased a gun and the loaded firearm was in the backseat with the two teenagers.
The 15-year-old boy was allegedly playing with the gun when it fired, and a bullet struck his 16-year-old brother in the chest, the report states.
The names of the teenagers have not been released.
The older boy was rushed to Christus Highland Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested Ebarb at 7:36 p.m., about five hours after the deadly incident, and charged him with negligent homicide, online records show.
The 15-year-old has also been charged.
