FedEx driver lured little girl with candy, sexually assaulted multiple children while working, authorities say
An Oregon man is accused of abusing at least five children, several who are still unidentified, that he came into contact with while working as a FedEx driver, authorities said.
On July 16, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an attempted sexual assault of a 9-year-old child in Aloha.
The child was playing outside her home when a FedEx driver made a delivery next door, a parent told deputies. The driver, the sheriff’s office said, offered the girl candy and then allegedly tried to sexually assault her.
The girl, who escaped and told her parent about what happened, provided authorities with a description of the suspect.
Deputies, with the help of FedEx, began searching the area and located the driver, Alejandro Negrete, 24. He was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail for first-degree attempted sexual abuse and first-degree attempted sodomy, the sheriff’s office said.
Negrete is currently being held on a $250,000 bail.
Authorities said Negrete has delivered for FedEx for around one year, and his routes included southwest Portland, Beaverton, Aloha and Tigard, all in Oregon.
Detectives have requested parents in those areas to speak with their children as they look for more potential victims. Anyone with information can call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at (503) 846-2700.
