California Substitute Teacher, 22, Accused of Performing Sex Act on High School Student

A female substitute teacher in California was arrested after allegedly performing a sex act on one of her male students, according to authorities.
On April 27, officers were informed that Rebekah Arte Blackwell-Taylor, 22, allegedly had an illicit encounter with a student at Orange Vista High School in Perris, according to the Val Verde Unified School District Police Department.
VVUSD police Chief Mark Clark said the case was turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Unit, according to KMIR. An investigation began and confirmed the alleged encounters.
On May 2, an arrest warrant was issued for Taylor and she was taken into custody without incident around 7:15 a.m. at her residence, police said.

Taylor was booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on suspicion of oral copulation of a minor and annoying a child, police said. She posted a $10,000 bond and was released later that night.
The details behind the alleged acts were not disclosed.
After the Sheriff’s Office’s investigation, Taylor was fired from VVUSD, Clark said. She was hired into the school district on Dec. 17, 2022, KMIR reported.
