Nevada 8-Month-Old Baby Died After Father Spilled Fentanyl, Meth Mix on Bed, Cops Say
Authorities in Nevada said a couple were arrested after their 8-month-old baby died from a fentanyl overdose.
Boulder City police charged Jeffrey Terakami, 36, and 31-year-old Kara Marie Dugan each with second-degree murder, KSAZ-TV reported.
On Nov. 15, 2022, officers and EMTs responding to Terakami and Dugan’s home about an unresponsive baby found the victim not breathing, police said.
Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. The child was transported to a hospital in Henderson and pronounced dead.
A Clark County Coroner’s Office autopsy report obtained by KSAZ-TV shows the infant died as “a result of fentanyl toxicity.”
The report also showed the baby allegedly was exposed to methamphetamine.

According to law enforcement officials, the parents both told investigators that the baby came into contact with the deadly drugs on the couple’s bed after Terakami spilled them.
The baby, police said, then crawled on the bed and suffered an overdose.
The parents were being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
