8-Year-Old Boy Slashes Older Child’s Throat With Butter Knife, Police Say

An 8-year-old Florida boy has been arrested after allegedly slashing another boy’s throat with a butter knife and threatening to “kill everyone,” according to police.
Around 4:30 p.m. on March 11 at a home in Clermont, the boy allegedly assaulted a 13-year-old boy, who is a foster child at the residence, the New York Post reported.
The younger child choked the victim until the alleged victim complained he could not breathe and kicked his alleged attacker, forcing him to let go of his neck, police said.
The victim tried to talk to the 8-year-old later on, but the suspect allegedly went into the kitchen, grabbed a butter knife and cut the older boy’s throat, officials said.
A neighbor who was present during the incident was able to get the knife away from the child before handing it over to a woman who lives at the residence, according to authorities.
Officials said the 8-year-old was threatening to “kill everyone” as he searched for the knife, The New York Post reported.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed a stick and tried to hit the victim with it, but other children in the home stopped him, cops said.
According to responding police, the 8-year-old was “crying” and begging the officers to not take him away..

The child was arrested, but as he was getting put into the back of a patrol car, he allegedly fought back and kicked one of the officers in the stomach.
He was placed in the Lake County Detention Center and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting a law enforcement officer.
The victim in the case suffered a 3-inch laceration on his neck but did not appear to be seriously hurt and refused transport to an area hospital, police said.
