A daycare co-owner faces criminal charges she abused a child at her facility, police in Florida said.
This week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Rong Liu.
The investigation started in late June, according to the sheriff’s office. Liu was the owner and director of the Children’s Land of Immigration Academy and was reported to have physically abused a child.
Investigators said she tried to put the child down for a nap and forcefully pushed and pulled the head and neck of the victim with her hand.
The age of the victim was not released.
Liu then put her legs across the victim’s body to try and hold him down, according to the sheriff’s office. The child cried and flailed throughout the incident.
Recently, Liu was arrested and charged with child abuse.
"It is sickening to hear that the person responsible for dozens of children at daycare would inflict this type of punishment on the vulnerable persons in her care," said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
