A Florida man called the police to say he found a dead body in the woods in April, but police are now saying he is the killer.

On April 21, James Gafford, 55, called police to report finding the body of Kaitlyn Emery, 29, in the woods near Orlando, Florida, according to authorities.

Police said Gafford told them he found the body while waiting for a bus.

According to detectives, Gafford met with Emery in the woods two days before the 911 call and that is when he killed her. The two met while waiting for a bus, according to reports.

Gafford is listed as a sexual predator on the Florida sex offender registry, as he was convicted of sexual battery in Miami-Dade County in 2001, Orlando Sentinel reported.

He has 17 previous felony convictions, according to ClickOrlando.com.

On June 25, a grand jury indicted Gafford on a first-degree murder charge, officials said.

Gafford is scheduled for an arraignment on July 8, authorities said.
