A drug deal in Florida turned bad as one person ended up dead and the other in cuffs, police said.
Last week, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Florida stated it arrested Corey Ward, 27, on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. He is being held in jail without bond.
Around 6 p.m. on Aug. 22, deputies responded to a shooting in Mims, Florida, according to the sheriff’s office. When deputies arrived, they found a man who was shot. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Tommy Leon Brothers.
A short time after the shooting, police stopped a suspected vehicle on I-95. Inside the car, they found Ward.
Investigators said they believe Ward came with two other people to meet Mims and sell drugs, according to the sheriff’s office. A disagreement over the transaction led to the shooting and Ward robbing the victim.
