A suspect is accused of going into a Florida home and assaulting an elderly resident with stolen guns, then leaving him for dead, police said.
Last week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the arrest of Logan Hall, 22, in connection to the case.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, deputies responded to a home after a woman called to say her husband had been attacked. Police did not release the victim’s age, only describing him as “elderly.”
When deputies arrived, they found the victim in a bedroom. He was taken to the hospital, where he was in critical condition.
The victim’s wife said her husband was home alone for several hours and she could not reach him, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators said a suspect went into the home and a struggle started with the victim. Before fleeing, the suspect attacked the elderly man with two guns stolen from the home.
Deputies identified Logan as the suspect, and he was arrested. Authorities said Hall confessed to the crimes.
“This suspect had every intention of leaving the victim for dead after senselessly and viciously attacking an innocent man," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Detectives swiftly worked to identify the suspect who showed no remorse for his actions. Our prayers are with the victim's family as he fights for his life."
