A hospital transport driver is accused of having sex with a patient on the stretcher despite her claims she said “no,” according to a report.
An 18-year-old woman told police that Kyle Rasmussen, 35, assaulted her twice while on a trip from a hospital in Gainesville, Florida, to a recovery center in Ocala, Florida, in September, according to WPLG.
The victim told police that on both occasions, she told Rasmussen “no” and tried to fight him off, according to the report.
Rasmussen confirmed he picked up the victim at the hospital, and during the transport they talked about having sex, WPLG noted.
He pulled over at a gas station where they had sex on a stretcher in the back of a van, according to a report. They then had sex for a second time at a mall.
Rasmussen told police the patient kissed him, undressed herself and it was a consensual encounter, according to the report.
Investigators later tried to talk to the victim, but family said she was admitted to a mental health facility and possibly pregnant from the incident, the report noted. Police charged Rasmussen because the victim was a mental health patient.
Rasmussen was charged with sexual misconduct with a mental health patient and booked into jail.
