'Quit Selling This Poison': Florida Suspect Arrested For Murder After Woman Overdoses On Fentanyl, Sheriff Says
A woman in the Florida Keys is accused of murder, because she allegedly sold fentanyl that killed another woman.
"Quit selling this poison in our community,” Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in a statement after the release of a medical examiner's report.
Alexis Sather, 23, was held without bond in connection with the death of Amanda Roberts, 53.
Monroe County deputies found Roberts dead in her Grassy Key home Sept. 2, 2022. The medical examiner concluded this week that she died from an overdose of fentanyl and diazepam.
Sather already was behind bars. WPLG-TV reports she was arrested in late September on charges of distributing fentanyl and heroin as well as possession of a controlled substance. An additional homicide count is now on her jail list.
The Key West Citizen noted this is the third arrest for homicide involving fentanyl in the Florida Keys since early 2022.
"If you sell these drugs and someone dies, we will pursue murder charges against you," WTVJ quoted Ramsey as saying.
