A Florida Man Woman Ghosted Her Ex-Boyfriend After Their Breakup. So He Fatally Shot Her While She Was on Her Way to Work.
A Florida man is spending the rest of his life in prison for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend because she stopped returning his phone calls and texts, according to authorities.
Around 8 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2022, police were called to a home in Melbourne for a reported shooting, according to prosecutors.
At the residence, officers discovered 23-year-old Sha’Dayla Johnson unresponsive in the carport suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died, officials said.
Witnesses told police they saw 24-year-old Carlos Jones, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, at the home at the time of the shooting. Officials said Jones and Johnson used to live together.
Around 11 a.m. the same morning, Jones walked into the police station in Palm Bay and turned himself in, authorities said.
Jones confessed to the shooting and claimed he and Johnson had a dispute because she wasn’t “responding to his phone calls or text messages,” officials said.
Johnson was on her way to work when Jones confronted her.
