On Sept. 22, a fight broke out between roommates at South Florida State Hospital, according to the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
During the fight, 34-year-old Reinaldo Bermeosolo allegedly “pulled both of the victim’s eyes out of his eye-sockets,” officials said.
The suspect and the victim, who were both court-ordered to be at the psychiatric facility, got into a verbal altercation, police said.
Punches were exchanged and then the suspect reportedly dragged the victim across the ground, striking him again before gouging out his eyes, authorities said.
Another patient at the hospital witnessed the fight and alerted medical staff, who called police to report the “physical altercation,” officials said.
