An argument ended with gunfire, as police say a Florida man has been arrested and charged with a New Year’s Day murder.
On Jan. 1, officers received a call about a shooting in Cape Coral, Florida, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
Police said the incident began as an argument, but it ended in gunfire.
The shooter and the victim knew each other, but the extent of that relationship is unknown, according to WINK News. Police did not say what led to the argument.
At the scene, officials found the victim dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to neighbors of the usually quiet complex, they thought the gunshots were fireworks since the new year had just started, WINK News reported.
Police said 24-year-old Trace Thomas McDowell was arrested in connection to the shooting and charged with second-degree murder.
He was booked into the Lee County Jail, officials said.
