A missing woman was found dead in a septic tank buried in her yard, handyman accused of murder

The body of a woman reported missing in Florida was found in a septic tank and now a handyman has been accused of murder.

Cynthia Cole, 57, was last seen on Feb. 24 at a Jammin’ Jensen event in downtown Jensen Beach, Florida, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Last week, the agency asked for the public’s help finding the woman.

Recently, deputies found the body believed to be Cole in the septic tank of her home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies spent hours excavating Cole’s backyard and found her remains in the tank that was about four feet underground, according to the sheriff’s office.

Arrest

Police arrested Keoki Hilo Demich in connection to the case. Though, investigators did not release a possible motive or how they connected Demich to the case. He was a handyman in the area.

Demich was charged with second-degree murder, as the case remains under investigation.

The medical examiner will confirm the remains are Cole, but sheriff’s officials say they believe it is the missing woman.
