Gay Porn Model Accused Of Murdering Florida Man More Than A Decade Ago

A gay pornography model has been arrested in connection to a execution-style killing of a Florida man in 2010, according to Local 10.
Aaron Michael Dobbins, 52, is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection to the killing of Alfred "Chad" McMurray on Aug. 30, 2010. The Broward County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest on Sept. 30.
Local 10 reported that, according to an arrest report, police found McMurray lying face down with a gunshot wound and his hands tied behind his back on Northeast 34th Street in Oakland Park, Florida. Police said McMurray's truck and some personal items were stolen.
According to Local 10, the following day police found McMurray's truck "doused with bleach inside and out" at an apartment complex in Lauderhill.
At the time, however, police were unable to determine a suspect until more than a decade later. Local 10 reported that the police report states that a search of a national database in May 2022 led to the discovery of DNA under McMurray's fingernails that matched Dobbins.
Police were unable to find a link between McMurray and Dobbins, who lived in Oakland Park between 2010 and 2015. They did, however, find that he was on several gay porn websites.
“BSO Homicide Unit detectives determined Dobbins lived in Oakland Park during the time of the murder and knew McMurray through Dobbins’ roommate,” BSO spokesperson Miranda Grossman said.
Local 10 reported that Dobbins' roommate and one-time partner was gay pornography model John Navarro, according to a police report. Navarro, known as "Mr. Muscle Stud," and McMurray met through the Internet. Navarro reportedly performed paid massages.
According to Local 10, Navarro and McMurray met at least three times, including one meeting in which they had group sex. Navarro reportedly called McMurray several times on the night of the killing, though Navarro was never questioned.
Navarro later spoke to police, saying he didn't know why Dobbins' DNA wound up under McMurray's fingernails. Local 10 reported that he and Dobbins dated for five years, and that Dobbins was "very jealous."
Navarro told police that Dobbins was having issues because he had just come out of the closet. According to Local 10, Dobbins initially denied having any sexual realations with Dobbins before saying "maybe he had relations with him," according to deputies.
Dobbins told police that his DNA was under McMurray's fingernails because McMurray had beaten him up, according to Local 10. Dobbins denied that he ever went to McMurray's home and told police he never owned a gun because he had had past "anger issues."
“Aaron Dobbins stated that his DNA under the victim’s fingernails was ‘irrefutable’ and (said) ‘you are right, if my DNA was there, then I was there, but I don’t remember being there,’“ investigators wrote.
Dobbins was arrested Sept. 22 in Hillsborough County and is being held in Broward Main jail without bond.
