Around 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 2, the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office in Florida responded to a hospital for a shooting victim. When deputies arrived, they saw a man who was being treated for a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators determined the victim was playing basketball at a Tampa, Florida, park. There, he met and interacted with two black men.

One of the suspects shot the victim and both fled the area, according to the sheriff’s office. A witness took the victim to the hospital.

On Nov. 20, the unidentified victim died from his injuries.

Police identified Jumari’ Cyrion Womack, 21, as the suspect and he was arrested recently in Georgia.

Deputies said Womack lured the victim to the basketball court with the intent of killing him. Authorities did not say why the suspect wanted the victim dead. Womack arranged the meeting, shot the victim and then went to his home in Georgia.

Sherriff’s officials charged Womack with first-degree murder with a firearm.
