Florida Preschool Teacher Accused Of Abuse On A 2-Year-Old, Fired After Just Six Days: Report

A 62-year-old Christian preschool teacher in Florida faces criminal charges after police say she abused a toddler in her care.
On July 19, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the arrest of Rebecca Bird. She was accused of felony child abuse against a 2-year-old victim.
The victim’s mother reported to deputies that her child was the victim of a battery.

Investigators said Bird forcefully grabbed the victim several times. She also caused the victim to fall to the ground on another occasion, according to the sheriff’s office. Both incidents were captured on surveillance video, police said.
Bird was employed as a preschool teacher at Aldersgate Christian Learning Center for six days until she was fired on July 18, according to the sheriff’s office.
There are no additional victims, authorities said.
