Florida Sheriff's Deputy Busted Driving Drunk With A BAC More Than Double The Legal Driving Limit
A sheriff’s deputy in Florida was busted allegedly driving drunk last week and has now been fired from the force.
Around 1 a.m. on May 17, officers in St. Petersburg, Florida, stopped 26-year-old Shelby Coniglio while she drove. She was a deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and worked in the Patrol Operations Bureau.
Coniglio showed signs of impairment by smelling of alcohol, slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet, according to the sheriff’s office. She also performed poorly on the field sobriety tests.
Officers took a breath test from Coniglio and she had a blood alcohol content of .206, which is more than twice the legal driving limit of .08.
Coniglio was hired in September 2018 and was fired after her arrest, which the sheriff’s department said is standard protocol.
